With a new year fast approaching, it’s time to reflect on the things that you did right and even the things that you wished you did better the previous year. During this time of reflection, you’ll learn a lot about yourself. Even if you didn’t do things perfectly the previous year, you always have the chance to do them better now.
Here are some ways you can be better to your body in 2018:
- Get up and get moving. Your body craves physical activity. That doesn’t mean you have to train for a marathon after sitting on the couch all winter. What it does mean is that you’re making your health a priority. You’re taking time out of your schedule to sweat, burn calories, and release stress. Pick a few activities that you enjoy and switch up your routine, so you don’t get bored. You’ll find yourself looking forward to exercising.
- Make sure you’re getting enough of the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients your body needs to thrive. If you’re not getting the proper nutrition, it can affect you negatively both physically and mentally. Take time out of your busy schedule to produce fresh foods for you and your family to enjoy. Get in the habit of fixing extra, so you always have something healthy on hand to eat. There will be times where you won’t feel like cooking. Rather than get caught up in the fast food restaurant game again, pull out the food you prepped and know that you’re doing your part to take good care of your precious body.
- Take time out for self-care. Make sure to schedule time for just yourself to do the things you love doing. Take a long bath, get a massage or facial, dance with reckless abandon, and spend time admiring your body for the miraculous thing that it is. Having time for just yourself is a rarity, but it doesn’t have to be. Make it a point to do one self-care thing a week for yourself. You’ll be thrilled that you took time out to care for yourself the same way you do others that you love.
